Regional training workshop to strengthen the capacity of countries in the African region to implement the Basel and Rotterdam Conventions

Highlights: The main objective of the workshop is to strengthen the capacity of countries in the African region to implement the Basel and Rotterdam Conventions. The workshop is intended for those officials assuming primary responsibility for implementing the Basel and Rotterdam conventions within their respective national settings, namely competent authorities under the Basel Convention and designated national authorities under the Rotterdam Convention, and other key entities including customs and enforcement authorities and competent authorities under the Bamako Convention. Through a series of presentations, interactive exercises and the exchange of information and experience, the workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the provisions of the Basel and Rotterdam conventions.

Organizer: The workshop is organized by the Secretariat of the Basel and Rotterdam Conventions in cooperation with the Basel Convention Regional Centre for French-speaking countries in Africa in Senegal and with generous financial support from the Government of France.
