The Joint Fourth Meeting for BCRC-Egypt Project Steering Committee (PSC) and Center Steering Committee (CSC)
Cairo, Egypt 17-19 April 2016
BCRC-Egypt set up an arrangement to organize the joint meeting for CSC and the PSC on the sidelines of the meeting of Arab Team concerned with the follow up of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements of the chemicals and Hazardous waste, that took place at the headquarter of the Arab league of States, Cairo, Egypt, 17-19th of April, 2016.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Egypt, as members in the CSC plus BCRC-Egypt Director, the representatives of UNDP, The Arab league of States. Also Qatar, Kuwait, representatives of The SCRC in Kuwait and the Arab Network for Environment and Development attended as observers.
The Committee decided the following:
- Endorsement of BCRC-Egypt plan for 2016-2019.
- Inviting the Arab states to voluntarily allocate certain amount of money as a Trust to finance BCRC-Egypt operation and activities, especially with the close closure of the project funded by the Finnish Government.
- Inform the Arab Team concerned with the follow up of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements of the chemicals and Hazardous waste, about the draft of the e-waste legislation that BCRC-Egypt prepared, to be discussed and agreed on to be taken as a guidance.
- Request the Director of the BCRC-Egypt to:

- Proceed with the implementation of the action plan approved by the Centre Steering Committee.
- Consider the future needs of the Arab states that may arise during implementing the approved work plan.
- Invite the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to participate in the activities and programs offered by the Center.
- Demand the Arab States to provide BCRC-Egypt with the names and addresses of the national Focal Points to facilitate communications
- Reinsert the project of the POPS inventory in BCRC-Egypt plan for 2016-2019, according to Egypt request.
- Insert training programs concerning the handling and disposal of the pesticides and also building capacity of customs officers, according to Sudan request.
- Demand the Arab countries to support the activities of the Centre through hosting activities or programs (workshops, training, etc.) and contact the BCRC-Egypt through the following e-mail: kmostafe@sci.cu.edu.eg and copy the General Secretariat of the Arab League to : envsusdev.dept@las.int.
